Gown Preservation

Your special day is over, you had an amazing time on the honeymoon, now you're back...to blissful reality. You walk into your home as husband and wife...you stop in your tracks and see your wedding gown slumped over...well, something. It's beautiful, it fit you perfectly...it's dirty. What now? Where to put it? Can't just stuff it in the closet or in the attic...it is a piece of art. Yes, it is...a gown is a piece of art.

Once the wedding day is over, women either sell their gown (via ebay, consignment, or  to a friend), clean their gown (via professional cleaner), or preserve their gown. I always say, if you have no idea of what to do with your gown yet at least get it cleaned. BUT to prevent your gown from any furthur damage or deterioration preserve your gown.
I had the pleasure to meet a sweet young woman, Kat Roberts who works for J. Scheers. A gown preservation company that specializes in preserving your wedding gown so it remains in fantastic condition even 10 years later. Your gown is treated like a piece of art, especially since the owner studied conservation science and care of museum collections at the Smithsonian Institution's Conservation Analytical Laboratory, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Campbell Center for Historic Preservation. So you know your gown is treated extremely well once handed over to them.  The dress is examined down to the last detail! Seriously! Plus, when you get your gown back it's neatly packaged in an archival textile storage box made of fluted polypropylene safe box that can easily be tucked away in your home.

Make sure to not hand over your gown to just any cleaner. I've heard too many horror stories that make me want to cry.

Check out their website here and if you have any questions, please feel free to send me an email and I would love to get you connected to Kat. She's great!
