Oui! Oui!

C'est un doux bonbon!

For some reason I'm craving Macaroons! My friend, Kathy had delicious macaroons grace the dessert table instead of a wedding cake at her wedding this past April! My oh my were they delicious! Her (now) husband had given me and a friend the task of building the perfect French Macaroon tower, but changed his mind and wanted the table over-flowing with the fantastic baked confection. I think he realized having me near those macaroons before the reception was a bad idea (hehe)...Right now I could seriously eat a box on my own.

Macaroons pair perfectly with coffee!

Macaroons work at any event! Whether it be a wedding, a bridal shower, or even baby shower...think fun colors and having a sweet grand fĂȘte!!!

Fun Fact: The name of the cookie comes from an Italian word meaning paste, maccarone. While origins are uncertain, some culinary historians claim that macaroons can be traced to an Italian monastery. The monks came to France in 1533, joined by the pastry chefs of Catherine de Medici, wife of King Henri II. Later, two Benedictine nuns, Sister Marguerite and Sister Marie-Elisabeth, came to Nancy seeking asylum during the French Revolution. The two women paid for their housing by baking and selling macaroon cookies, and thus became known as the "Macaroon Sisters. (Thanks Wikipedia!)

Sweet Tooth- Sugarplum Pastry

I'm so glad to have amazingly talented friends! Especially friends that are amazing bakers! {I would do anything for a red velvet cupcake right about now}.

My dear friend, Darlene Kwon who's a full-time teacher would spend her summer breaks at bake shops strengthening her baking skills and learning more about the "science" to baking. She would find the sought after Pastry Chefs of California and eventually work for them (she's a go getter). She was taught by the best! Getting all of the learning she could from pastry chefs from Boule and Chez Panisse she eventually started Sugarplum Pastry! I have taken one of Darlene's fun baking classes and this all comes naturally to her. Baking is definitely a science. Can't substitute too many ingredients! Darlene's pastries are delicious and ridiculously amazing!

If you need cupcakes for a birthday party or tarts for a bridal shower, Darlene takes each order as if it were for her very own event. She's so patient and sweet {no pun intended}! Tell her Yoleine sent you!

Cakes by the Pound

I'm so excited about cake tasting at Cakes by the Pound with one of my brides next week! I hear Mendy K. Pound's cakes are amaaaazing! No Fail! I will admit the Millionaire Matchmaker show is a guilty pleasure of mine, but Mendy was on the show when Patty had her cake tasting for her upcoming wedding and just by looking at them, they looked divine!

I will update you all after our tasting!

Update: Cake tasting was fantastic! Mendy is great! Her tastings are all done by appointments only. I will post a little story about the adventure very soon (when my lil bride sends me photos of the wonderful cakes). Let's just say the cake verdict is.....red velvet & vanilla. You have to taste it to believe it!
Cheers!
